MEMBERSHIP AT ST MARK'S
We here at St. Mark's Church welcome people of all walks of life regardless of where you are on your faith journey. You do not have to be a member to participate in the vast majority of our ministries, mission work or program events. In fact, we highly encourage getting involved. It's often through our involvement with one another that we discover more about who Jesus is, who we are, and what unique gifts and calling God has placed on our lives.
When you decide you want to become a member, you are deciding to enter into a covenant partnership with the Lord, His mission and vision here at St. Mark's Church, and with your fellow believers in the congregation. Membership is a celebration and a commitment.
Our Membership Covenant
Our Vision Statement says that we are to become “intentional leaders in all that we do for God.” A “leader” for us at St. Mark's is defined as “someone who is willing to take the first step, to take a risk for God as we represent Jesus Christ in the world.”
When you decide to join St. Mark's Church, you a making a commitment to the following foundational leadership goals:
- Intentional Worship - We make a commitment to participate in regular, weekly worship on Sunday mornings here at Church. Worship keeps our focus on praising God for Who He is. It reminds us that God comes first.
- Intentional Growth - We make a commitment to participate in at least one ongoing spiritually enriching experience each year (other than Sunday worship). It could be a Sunday School class, a small group Bible study, personal devotions, or the like.
- Intentional Service - We make a commitment to participate in at least one form of Christian service each year - either within the ministries of the Church itself, or an extension of the Church in the communities around us. This could be serving as an usher, teaching children or youth Sunday School, helping out with Vacation Bible School, serving on a short term mission trip, serving dinner at our local Rescue Mission, or one of the many other opportunities around us.
- Intentional Giving - We make a commitment to giving financially to the Lord's work here at St. Mark's Church in proportion to how God has blessed us - leading to the Biblical minimum standard of Tithing (10% of our income). We believe that God is our Provider. Tithing is an act of trust and worship.
